Cheers to Monday | August 1st
The Week in Review | July 26 – August 1, 2016
Happy August 1st!!!! Can you believe that we’re OVER half-way through 2016 already?! Pretty soon, it’ll be Christmas, which is just fine by us because that’ll mean that we’re be back in Vermont, celebrating the Savior with our sweet families! In the meantime, we’ll continue to sweat through 100+ degree days here in St. Pete, while swooning for all the afternoon thunderstorms that roll through (#stormnerd) 🙂
And with that, here are some of the highlights of the past seven days!
–Planning time with my sweet friend, Kelly. She and I co-lead an incredible group of local creatives every month, at a meetup called Tuesdays Together (which you can read more about right here), and last week, we met at Starbucks for several hours to share ideas and brainstorm. Stepping up to help lead our group has been a huge leap of faith for me (I HATE public speaking), but I can see that Jesus is doing incredible things in my own heart because of it, and I’m super thankful for this season of learning and being stretched.
–Adventures with Kim. Last Tuesday, she graciously drove us (because Gertie is on her very last, wobbly leg) up to Dunedin so that she could see FOUND for herself and so that I could stop in at a local bakery and pick up a few treats for a fun new project I’ll be sharing soon. We had such a fun time wandering around town, peeking into tiny gift shops and sharing a chocolate croissant (while showing incredible self control by saying NO to the gelato cookie sandwiches and fresh baklava, thankyouverymuch).
–New TV show with Luke. You may or may not know that one of our favorite things to do with any extra downtime is find a new TV show we can enjoy together…and this weekend, he introduced me to House of Cards. We’re only a few episodes in, but I’m already hooked!
–Sunday rest. Our friends lovingly tease us about being old fuddy duddies who won’t leave the house once we’re home from church, but they also know the real reason we say no to most Sunday invites…because we’re trying to be really intentional about having one day a week that is purely for rest. We’ve found tremendous value in purposefully leaving Sunday empty, and yesterday was no exception. We got home from church, changed into jammies, and snuggled up on the couch together to watch House of Cards most of the afternoon. Life just feels like it keeps getting busier and busier, ya know? Sunday rest has really helped us combat that ♥
